LedgID and FrontM Partner for Seafarer Digital Identity
LedgID and FrontM have agreed a development and partnership agreement to build a platform for crew enablement and maritime professional identity. The deal includes a series of development sprints leading toward a scheduled launch at the Posidonia maritime exhibition in June. LedgID was launched late last year by founders and directors of the company Peter Schellenberger, Henning Mark Davies, and Ronald Spithout, with the goal of creating a unified ecosystem that would allow maritime professionals to own and manage their own secure, portable digital identity. The blockchain-backed system is designed to eliminate paperwork fragmentation and support improved workforce mobility across the global maritime industry. For seafarers, the platform would provide a portable digital identity known as Crew Vault, consolidating training, certifications, and sea-time records into a single repository, helping to streamline hiring processes and reduce the risk of credential fraud. Additionally, the proposed system will also include integration of a digital Seaman’s Book that could be used to provide flag states and regulators with oversight of compliance through tamper-resistant records on the blockchain.
