Deepak Shetty Addresses Future Maritime Leaders on Responsible Governance and Seafarer Welfare LEDGID was pleased to see our Senior Advisor, Deepak Shetty, IRS, sharing his experience and perspective with the next generation of maritime professionals and leaders in India. On 30 September 2026, Mr. Shetty delivered an expert session at Gujarat Maritime University on “Towards a Responsible Maritime Industry: Anti-Corruption, Ethical Governance and Seafarer Welfare.” Drawing on his distinguished career in public service, including his former roles as Secretary to the Government of India and Director General of Shipping, Mr. Shetty addressed the importance of integrity, accountability and responsible governance in shaping the future of the maritime industry. These principles are increasingly important as maritime services become more digital and interconnected. Technology can make processes faster and more efficient, but lasting digital transformation also depends on trust, transparency and putting the seafarer at the centre of the ecosystem. At LEDGID, these values strongly resonate with our own mission to help create a more trusted and connected maritime environment in which individuals remain in control of their professional identity and data, and verified information can move securely between maritime stakeholders. We congratulate Deepak on another valuable contribution to maritime education and to the continuing conversation around responsible digital transformation. Building trust in maritime starts with people, governance and integrity — technology enables us to carry that trust further.
